Willie Mae Ison

Ms. Willie “Mae” Ison passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Andalusia Health. She was 82. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM, Friday June 4, 2021, at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers, Victor Ison, Andrew Ison, Jason Tucker, Daniel Tucker, Aaron Tucker, and Riley Tucker. Keahey Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Left to cherish her memories, daughter, Cynthia Tucker (Zane) of Andalusia; sons, Alex Ison (Joann) of Andalusia, and John Ison; grandchildren, Jason Tucker (Jessica), Daniel Tucker (Candace), Aaron Tucker (Amy), Kala Ison, Victor Ison, and Andrew Ison; great-grandchildren, Riley Tucker, Macy Tucker, Cameron Ison, Ada Tucker, Bentley Tucker, Kennedy Tucker, Henry Tucker, and Atwood Tucker.
Mae is preceded in death by her husband, Virchel Ison; parents, Charles and Donnie Grice; and siblings, Hollis Grice, Jessie Grice, Desirae Odom, Bert Schultz, Olene Etheridge, Von Cartwright, and Buddy Grice.
“Mae” was the baby daughter of eight children born to Charles Grice and Donnie Lee Grice. She married her sweetheart, a military man, Virchel Ison, his military service took them all around the United States and two tours in Germany. The “red head” stereotype fit “Mae” perfectly, she had a fiery and spirited personality and lit up the room wherever she went. When her sisters were living, she enjoyed many travels and adventures with them. She was a wonderful mother and will be greatly missed.
