William Wesley (Bill) Rogers

William Wesley Rogers passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 16, 2025.  Age 71, a resident of Andalusia, AL.  Son of Frances Tolbert Rogers and Jack Rogers.  Brother of Sally Hufner (Stu).  Survived by his wife, Bobbie Taylor Rogers, his sister Sally Hufner and many nieces and nephews. 

Bill was born in Ohio and moved to Miami, FL, where he spent his childhood.  He later moved to Birmingham, AL, where he completed high school before entering Auburn University in 1972 where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering.  Upon graduating from Auburn, Bill began his 38-year career with Alabama Electric Cooperative, now known as Power South Energy Cooperative. 

After settling in Andalusia, AL, Bill met and married the love of his life, Bobbie Taylor Rogers in 1981.  Bill and Bobbie spent much of their 44 years together living on Point A Lake.  It was here that they made a beautiful home together, with Bobbie’s sisters living close by, allowing them to spend cherished time with the beloved nieces and nephews who grew as close to them as if they were their own children. 

Bill was an engineer by trade, and he poured his knowledge into his hobbies like restoring vintage motorcycles, rebuilding outboard motors and assembling solar power systems, just to name a few.  For a time, he was also an aspiring amateur pilot, as well as the author of a book on electrical generators.  Away from the time he spent with his loved ones, Bill’s preferred environment was his workshop, which gave him many hours of pleasure, expanded his knowledge and benefitted the engineering community.  Aside from the highly technical things in his life, “Bass”, as he was known to many dear friends, enjoyed fishing, good music, and a good read.  He was also a supporter of his dear Auburn Tigers through the good and the bad.  Most of all, Bill was a kind, gentle, and caring man who gave to many and meant so much to all those who knew him.  He will be sadly missed. 

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Bill’s compassionate caregiver, Charity McCart, as well as the employees of Aveanna Hospice.  The outpouring of love and support from family, friends, neighbors and loved ones throughout Bill’s battle means so much to the family. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at Andalusia Full Gospel Tabernacle at 1600 Stanley Avenue, Andalusia, AL 36420 on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:00 am (visitation will begin at 10:00 am). Rev. Travis Day will officiate. Interment will follow in the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Keahey Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Andalusia Full Gospel Tabernacle Benevolence Fund.
