Walter Richard Prestage

Walter Richard Prestage, age 73, of Elba, Alabama, passed away on December 13, 2025.

Walter was born on July 19, 1952, in Moline, Illinois, to the late L.J. Prestage and Betty Burdic Prestage. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy before retiring from his working career.

He is survived by his loving wife, Candy Dean Prestage; his mother, Betty Burdic Prestage; one son, Luke Prestage of Hamilton, Alabama; two daughters, Shannon Rice (Malachi) of Scottsboro, Alabama, and Adrian Slusher (Shannon) of Clifton, Tennessee; three brothers, Jerry Prestage (Tammy) of Hamilton, Alabama, Tim Prestage (Beverly) of New Albany, Mississippi, and Lanny Prestage of Hamilton, Alabama; three sisters, Terri Elliott of Talladega, Alabama, Patty Cook of Hamilton, Alabama, and Kelley Duffy (Tim) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by a special friend, Cathy Davis, a special grandson, Remi Parrish, and a special granddaughter, Oaklynn.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by loved ones who cherished him deeply.

Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 p.m., on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Elba, Alabama.

Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Dewey Enfinger officiating.
