Steven John Caird, passed away peacefully at his home in Gantt, AL, on August 23, 2024. Born in Oakland, CA, on October 27, 1949, Steve lived a life full of adventure, love, faith, and dedication.
Steve was a dedicated businessman, known for running El Cajon Hitch and RV Repairs with passion and commitment. His journey through life was marked by a series of moves that took him from Spokane, WA, where he met and married his soulmate, Dottie, in 1990, to Andalusia, AL in 1994, and then to Montana in 2005. In 2015, he returned to Gantt, AL, where he continued to embrace life to the fullest. Upon his return to Alabama, he accepted Jesus Christ into his heart and was baptized. He was a member of Dozier Baptist church for many years.
A true adventurer at heart, Steve spent countless hours on the open road, riding his beloved Harley Davidson across the country and savoring every mile. His spirit was equally devoted to his other passions—classic car restoration, University of Alabama Football, and woodworking.
Preceded in death by his parents, Lois (Mal) Duarte and Peter (Mary) Caird, and siblings, Gerald and Linda. Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Dottie; children David (Tammi) Caird and Nicole Caird; step-daughters Karmen (Diane) Fredricks, Amy Clark, and Robin Morris; numerous nieces, nephews, 13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Steve’s zest for life touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. As we celebrate his remarkable life, we find comfort in the memories we shared. A memorial service to honor Steven will be held at Dozier Baptist Church on Sept 7th, 2024. Visitation starting at 10 am, followed by a memorial service at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Steven, you will be deeply missed, but your spirit, faith, and love will forever ride alongside us. Rest in peace.
