Renee (Faust) Smith

Renee Faust Smith, age 62 of Andalusia passed away March 12, 2025 at UAB hospital. A Celebration of Life event honoring & remembering her legacy will be held on Saturday, March 22nd from 3-6 PM at Sanders’ Barn at Southern Countertop Service. at 16049 US-29, Andalusia, AL 36420.

Andalusia, brother-in-law, Ceil Smith of Andalusia; sister-in-law, Renay McCory Smith of Andalusia; nieces and nephews, Shelley Dyal (Brett) of Andalusia and Shae Smith Paige; sister-in-law, Trish Cross (Carl) of Crestview, FL; and nieces and nephews, Mia Taft & Amanda Taft of Virginia; Colton Cross & Shelby Cross of Panama City, FL; and Renee’s son-in-law, Dylan, his parents, Woody Kilcrease (Angie) of Brewton and Dylan’s sister, Grace Haley (Taylor) of Baker, FL.

Renee loved spending time fishing, playing with their many grandchildren, and building fires together with the love of her life, Mark Bass. He taught her how to fish & she ended up out-fishing him every time since. He has always laughed about that. She also enjoyed spending quality time with her daughter, Bronwyn. Renee and Bronwyn loved watching comedy movies and singing together in the car, going out to the movies, & taking naps, “siestas” as she would say, together on the couch. One of her favorite bands was Guns & Roses, and Slash was her absolute favorite. She loved playing with her dog, Gypsy Rose; having girls’ night with her best friends: Gail Blackmon, Diane Howell, & Katie Johnson, The “PS girls/squad”. They would take trips to New Orleans together once a year, go to cookie decorating classes together, and get together at Old Mexico & The B. She loved rooting for her favorite NFL team, the New Orleans Saints & would yell at the TV cheering them on. It always made everyone laugh when she was watching a game, because everyone could hear her & knew who was winning.

She happily retired 3 years ago from Power South where she had been Department Secretary. She bought her first ever new & dream car shortly afterwards: A 2022 Toyota 4-runner Pearl white with Redwood interior. She was so proud of it, and her family was so proud for her. Renee was an absolute light of a human. She had a smile that would light up even the darkest of rooms, a laugh that was contagious, a sense of humor that was twisted in the best and most hilarious way, and a legacy that will live on forever throughout the many, many lives she has positively impacted in her 62 short years on this earth. She was so very loved and will be dearly missed by many.
