Patrick Elzie Simmons

Mr. Patrick Elzie Simmons of Prattville, formerly of Paxton, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at the age of 56. Born in Florala, Alabama on May 2, 1964, he was the son of Elzie B. Simmons and Mary Louise Yaun Simmons. He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Olean Wilson and grandparents, Willie & Ressie Wise. He attended Paxon High School and had resided in Paxton until 10 years ago when he relocated to Prattville.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 12, 2020, at Gaskin Church Cemetery in Walton County, Florida. Bro. Dan Hershey will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be John J. Nowling, Ashley Jordan, Bobby Simmons, Jim Brott, Jerry Wayne Simmons, James Adams. Patrick leaves behind his loving mother, Mary L. Simmons of Paxton, Florida; daughter, Tiffany Dawn Simmons of Defuniak Springs, Florida; brother, Bobby Simmons of Poolville, Texas; sisters, Diane Chancler of Prattville, AL; Glenda Autery of Prattville, AL; Ann Henderson (Gary) of Paxton, FL; Dennie Curry (Michael) of Defuniak Springs, FL; Carolyn Henderson (Steve) of Paxton, FL; Cindy Brott (Jim) of Westville, FL; Joyce Fannin of Paxton, FL; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was a brother, friend, and uncle to many. “Pat” as he was affectionally called, had a heart of gold; he loved to fish and watch wrestling and westerns on TV. He was employed with Chappy’s Deli in Prattville for 5 years; he had to leave the job he enjoyed due to health challenges. He battled cancer for the last 2 years. “Pat” was a huge Florida Gator football fan! He will be greatly missed.
