Norman Chastain Sr. Obituary

Norman Lee Chastain, Sr. passed away on May 23, 2025. He was born in Mt. Vernon,
IN to George Albert Chastain and Myrtle Odell Chastain on September 18, 1939. He is
preceded in death by his parents, brother, George Chastain, Jr., brother, Charles
Chastain, sister, Janice Chastain, son, Norman Chastain, Jr. He is survived by his wife
of 65 years, Betty Jane Chastain, daughter, Kimberly (Terry) Sands, son, Chris
Chastain, sister, Ruth Ann Roach, grandchildren, Crystal Grammer, Jennifer Sands,
Heather (Denson) Helms, Lacy (Cody) Stillwell, Leah (Tom) Dugan, Shayna (Ricky)
Ray, Ezekiel Chastain, Dakota Chastain, great grandchildren, Heath Helms, Denson
Helms, Cooper Stillwell, Camilla Stillwell, Aubrey Hancock, Reed Ray, Alayna Ray, and
several nieces and nephews.
Norman was a retired carpenter. He was (and) a Freemason. After his retirement, he
and his wife spent many years of full time traveling and working as gate attendants for
the Core of Engineers before finally settling down in Andalusia, AL, where they have
resided since 2001. He enjoyed working with his hands and was an avid wood carver.
He belonged to the National Wood Carvers Association. He was a Deacon and Sunday
School Teacher and remained very active in his church.
On June 14, 2025, there will be A Celebration of Life Service held at the Harmony
Baptist Church, 20932 Co Rd 70, Andalusia, AL 3642. Visitation will start at 10:00 am,
followed by a service at 11:00 am. Pastor Scott Donaldson will be officiating. Mark
Emery will be providing the special music.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Norman Chastain Bible Study
Memorial Fund.
