Mary Ann Grimes

Mrs. Mary Ann Grimes of the Rose Hill Community passed away October 16, 2021, at her residence. She was 74.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, October 22, 2021, at Good News Chapel in Rose Hill. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services. Rev. Jay Driver will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.
Serving as pallbearers will be John David Straughn, Carter Straughn, Josh Kyser, Kenneth Catoe, John Horn.
Left to cherish her memory, sons, William Christopher Willhite of Rose Hill and stepson, Lee Grimes of Wetumpka; daughters, Joanna Straughn, Candice Willhite and Victoria Willhite of Rosehill; two stepdaughters, Beth Spires of Georgia and Cynde Dessecker of Texas; one brother, Raymond Horton Jr., of Anniston, AL; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Grimes loved to play the piano and sing in the choir at church; she was the first full-time nurse at Straughn School. She and her husband, Bernard Grimes owned and operated the Rose Mart store in Rose Hill for over 30 years. She was lovingly called “Mama” by her children and their friends; she was like a “mama” to most any children, young or old, that knew her.
