Margaret Martin Smithwick, age 91 of Andalusia passed away April 30, 2024 at her residence. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. One of Margaret’s nephews, Rev. Gary Martin will officiate. Interment will follow in the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Bass, Scotty Bass, Brent Martin, Chris Martin, Ian Cooper, and Jerry Campbell. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Herb Fain, Billy Joe Martin and Jimmie Riley.
Left to cherish her memories, daughters, Jackie Fuqua of Andalusia; Janet F. Cooper (Tim) of Andalusia; step daughter, Portia Jennison (Bill) of Palatka, Florida; step son, Charlie “Chuck” Harris Smithwick, III (Janelle) of North Carolina; brother, Billy Joe “Bill” Martin of Andalusia; sister, Irma Nell Riley; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Martin and Nellie Maddox Martin, her husband, Charlie Harris Smithwick, Jr.; son, Danny Harold Fuqua, brother, Rev. Ben Martin, and sister, Juanita Fain.
Margaret dearly loved all her family. She was a member of Liberty Home Baptist Church, a wonderful homemaker and skilled in craft making, silk flower arrangements, hand stitched projects, scrapbooking and arranging photo albums. She was greatly loved and will be very missed. Keahey Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
