Lamar Arthur Short, age 74 of Andalusia passed away January 18, 2024 in a Dothan hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, January 22, 2024 at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Josh Wilson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12 p.m. until time of the services. Rev. Josh Wilson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Gilead Church Cemetery. Keahey Funeral Home directing.
Left to cherish his memory, loving wife of 52 years, Katherine Short; son, Dustin Lamar Short of Andalusia; Christopher Taylor Short (Tara Marion-Short) of Marshallberg, North Carolina; Shannon Micheal Short (Kayla Wyrick Short) of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina; sister, Charlotte Hawkins of Andalusia; mother-in-law, Lucy Christina Torres Snook of Ozark; sister-in-law, Robin Pearce of Springfield, Missouri; sister-in-law, Patricia Susan Hayes Snook of Ozark; brother-in-law, George Henry Snook of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Georgia Blair Short, Max Lucas Short, Ellie Kate Short, Tanner Jones Short, Tucker Jack Short, Brittany Jo Long, Tyler Dustin Long, Jacob Martin Long; numerous nieces and nephews.
Lamar was the son of the late Arthur Byrd Short and Charlotte Leslie Mack Short. He was a 1967 graduate of Andalusia High School and served in the U.S. Navy for 2 years. A gifted vocalist, he sang with The Vessels of Clay for 15 years and the Old Timers Quartet in Andalusia. The couple had resided in Mount Airy, North Carolina and moved back to Andalusia 2 years ago. They attended Southside Baptist Church; he played baseball and softball with church leagues and was an avid fisherman. He was a member of the Christian Bass Anglers of Mount Airy and a Alabama Crimson Tide fan. He will be greatly missed.
