Jewel Mason Brown Barrow

Ms. Jewel E. Mason Brown Barrow of Andalusia passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at the age of 100. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Fairmount Baptist Church Cemetery.

Our amazing precious mother Jewel was a gentle, yet strong, generous soul.

Jewel was born on November 26, 1920, in Red Level, Alabama to Charles Allen and Rebecca Elizabeth Mason. Her grandfather, Henry Allen Mason was the 15th pastor at Fairmount Baptist Church where she was a lifetime member.

While working as a dental assistant for Dr. E.P. King in Andalusia, Jewel earned her degree in Dental Hygiene. She continued working as Dr. King’s hygienist until her retirement.

Jewel was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Evelyn Mason Lee, and Sylvia Mason Harris. She is survived by sons, Allen Dean Brown (Sue), and Henry Michael Brown (Gail); daughter, Beverly Jane Brown Prevett (Bob); she was blessed with five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Fairmount Cemetery Fund in Jewel’s honor.
