Jimmy served in the Army National Guard for several years and was a Mason. Lots of adjectives could be used to describe “Jimmy’s” personality, but a simple word like “BIG” describes his personality perfectly.  He took the stage of any room he walked in, always talking and smiling at the same time and with a look on his face like he held some large secret and was about to expose it! His “tall tales” were spun with threads of truth and fiction. He lived a “never a dull moment” life, but it rarely spanned outside the city limits of Clio. His first love was his beautiful wife, Irma and their children and grandchildren; in a close second was his “cars”. Restoring wrecked vehicles was his mastery. He could make the words of Johnny Cash’s song, “One Piece At A Time” come true. A Dodge “Mopar” was the apple of his eye, but there wasn’t a car damaged enough that Jimmy’s hands’ couldn’t make look like it was back on a showroom floor. His generous, fun-filled spirit will be missed by all who knew him. There was only one, “Jimmy Carpenter”!

Left to cherish his memory his loving wife, Irma Carpenter of Clio; daughters, Traci Gavanditti of Eufaula, and Donna Lasseter of Ozark; brother, Rickey Carpenter (significant other, Tim McKinney) of Ocean Ridge, Florida; grandchildren, Karson Gavanditti, Zachary Shipes, and Matthew Davis; great-grandchildren, Mila Shipes, Nieces and  Nephews, Timmy McKinney Jr., Debbie Jill (David) Woest, David Baxter Carpenter Jr. (Amanda); great-nephews, Miles Woest, Max Woest, Eli Carpenter, and David Carpenter III.
Preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Martha Frances McLean Carpenter; and brother, David Carpenter.
