James “Gene” Eugene Gomillion, age 61 of Andalusia passed away on Saturday, April 19th 2025 after a battle with cancer.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel.
Gene was born on April 17, 1964 to James Eugene (Gene) Sr. and Jeanne Gomillion at Covington Memorial Hospital in Andalusia, AL. Gene spent his childhood playing baseball, spending time with family and enjoying school activities.
Gene was a 1982 graduate of Andalusia High School, and continued his education at Auburn University, College of Engineering, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in building and construction.
Professionally, Gene became a developer of luxury properties in Northwest, Florida, after that adventure, he explored many different business endeavors including owning and operating a mortgage company.
Through the years, Gene was fond of a variety of hobbies such as collecting corvettes, music, specifically Elvis and George Strait, and especially going to the beach.
Gene is survived by his daughters, Geanna Hurtado (Christopher) and Savannah Gomillion and his loving mother, Jeanne Gomillion. He is preceded in death by his father James E. Gomillion Sr., maternal grandparents, Doss and Elsieiene Covin and paternal grandparents J.V. and Tessie Gomillion.
