James (Beany) Booker Obituary

Mr. James (Beany) Booker of McKenzie passed away Saturday, December 26, 2020. He was 72 years old. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Alice Booker; a son and a grandson of Texas; a sister, Jo Peevy of Birmingham. Mr. Booker was a lifelong resident of McKenzie, Alabama, and a member of the McKenzie Baptist Church. He fought in the Vietnam War for the U.S. Army from 1968-70 and was awarded the Purple Heart.

A Military Honors Ceremony was held at10 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery (Intersection of Booker and Brogden Road, Hwy. 33) in McKenzie. Speakers were McKenzie Mayor, Lester Odom and his wife, Mrs. Alice Booker. Pastor Dene McCoy said the closing prayer. Keahey Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
