James Gordon Ledbetter, Jr. age 75 of Greenville passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 9, 2023 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 13th at Fairmount Baptist Church in Red Level. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m., until time of the service. Rev. Michael Bush will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Fairmount Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Henry Ledbetter, Tony Eady, Ryan King, Garry King, Glenn King and Greg Till.
Left to cherish his memory, loving wife, JoAnn King Ledbetter; sons, James Gordon Ledbetter, III (Cheryl) of Panama City, Florida; Kevin Donald Ledbetter (Karrie) of Defuniak Springs, Florida; daughter, Melissa Ledbetter Brown (Ryan) of Birmingham, Alabama; step children, Vanessa Till (Greg) of Georgiana, Alabama; Tony Eady (Maria) of Montgomery, Alabama; five brothers, Glenn Ledbetter (Susan) of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana; Henry Ledbetter (Becky) of Panama City, Florida; William Ledbetter (Sally) of Dawsonville, Georgia; Jerry Ledbetter (Carol) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Donald Ledbetter of Sulphur, Texas; sisters, Betty Johnson of Andalusia, Alabama; Linda Newson of Panama City, Florida; Dorothy Stoks (Richard) of Valley Grand, Alabama; Janet Woods of Tallahassee, Florida; 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and his beloved pets, Jabo and Cocoa.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James Gordon Ledbetter, Sr. and Verbie Bennett Ledbetter, brother, Jody Lane Ledbetter and sister, Martha Bennett.
James Gordon served in the U.S. Marines for 4 years, in his retirement he enjoyed "tinkering around" having bee hives and collecting the honey. He will be dearly missed.
