Jack Richard Wilson of Florala, Alabama passed away on August 26, 2020, at home with his family after a brief battle with cancer. Jack was born in 1943 to Jack Raymond Wilson and Fern Steuteville Wilson in South Sioux City, Iowa.
Jack married Carol Underwood Wilson in 1972 in Honolulu, HI. They celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary last November. Jack and Carol lived in Honolulu until 1980 when they moved to Colorado. They moved to Florala, Alabama from Craig, Colorado in July of 2017.
Jack was an avid fisherman and rock hound. He enjoyed darts, licorice, peanuts, bowling, loud music, exploring, and spending time in nature. He was a voracious reader, a prolific writer, and was deeply intellectual. Jack loved hiking and trail-blazing and had recently dusted off his banjo-playing skills.
Jack attended the University of Northern Colorado, the University of Colorado in Boulder, University of California at Berkeley, and University of Hawaii. He earned his Masters Degree in physics, and a Ph.D. in political science. He retired from Tri-State Energy and Transmission in 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Heather “Willy” Wilson, son in law Jeff Wheeless; daughter, Letha Michelle Wilson and fiance Paul Bengtson; son, Dennis Ray Wilson and fiance Lynn Fetherolf; grandsons, Duke and Drake Wheeless; sister, Mary Wilson Nichols. Jack was predeceased by his parents and brother Thomas R. Wilson.
