Howard Easley Obituary

Howard A. Easley (1953 - 2023): The Man, The Myth, The Legend

In a world where heroes are hard to find, one man stood tall, defying the odds and leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. Howard Easley, who passed away peacefully at home at the age of 69, was an innovator, a troubleshooter extraordinaire, and a man with a heart as big as the Grand Canyon.

Born in Covington County, and raised around the world as an Army brat, Howard returned to Covington County to begin his illustrious career in law enforcement, proving that even superheroes need a day job. From deputy sheriff to assistant chief of police, his dedication to justice was matched only by his infectious wit. As an FBI National Academy graduate, Howard honed his skills as a firearm instructor and solver of problems, both great and small.

But the law wasn't the only realm in which Howard found success. He went on to conquer the world of jurisprudence, working as a paralegal while attending law school. He was a force to be reckoned with, both in the courtroom and at the dinner table, where his love for a good debate knew no bounds.

Yet it was his battle with lung cancer at the age of 45 that truly tested his mettle. Howard emerged victorious, only to find that his hardest work lay ahead. For the next 25 years, he devoted himself tirelessly to the care of his parents, children, grandchildren, and the numerous wanderers and vagabonds who sought solace in his unwavering embrace.

It should be noted that Howard was not just a devoted father and grandfather to his human kin. He was also a fiercely loving grandparent to his granddogs and grandcats, who reveled in his generous belly rubs and ear scratches.

Howard Easley was a sage, a confidant, and a champion of all those in need. His ability to listen without judgment and offer sound advice endeared him to all who sought his counsel. He was an intrepid explorer, willing to traverse the most treacherous terrain in pursuit of a solution, even if that meant venturing into the darkest corners of the Internet.

In the end, Howard's legacy is one of love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to the people he held dear. He was a true original, a man whose humor, wisdom, and indomitable spirit will live on in the stories we share and the memories we cherish.

So, as we bid farewell to this remarkable man, let us remember him not with tears, but with smiles, knowing that somewhere in the great beyond, Howard Easley is regaling the angels with a tale so epic, and witty that even the heavens can't help but laugh.

He is survived by son, Thomas (Terrie) Easley of Andalusia, AL; daughter, Victoria (Chris) Jackson of Pensacola, FL; stepchildren, Christine Coronell of Nashville, Tennessee; Twila Guay of Maine; Lindsey Adams of Auburn, AL; sister, Mary (Leon) Boss, Lexington, South Carolina; grandchildren, Emery Jackson, Natalie Coronell, Jamison Coronell, Peyton McLaughlin, Royce Guay, Paisley Guay. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aulton Easley and Frances Bulger Easley.
