Clyde served in the U.S. Army for 12 years and during that time traveled extensively and received many prestigious marksman awards. He operated the military motor pool and was the General's "favorite" operator. He was known throughout Florala as the "garden master" having an annual flourishly garden with a bounty of vegetables to share with all his family and friends. The family reminisced how on Debra May and Clyde's "honeymoon" they picked and shucked corn! He was friends with all the local farmers and always said he would have loved to farm for a living. A true country man, he loved to fish and hunt. A natural mathematician he could quickly do advanced math problems "in his head", his expertise with numbers led to his career as a precision mechanic; due to health problems he had to retire early from Turbon Diagnosis Services. Those who knew him best and dearly loved him described him as deeply loyal, an extremely hard worker and simply a fine man! He will be greatly missed.
