Gary W. Dreading

Mr. Gary Wayne Dreading, Sr., a native of Covington County passed away December 1, 2022, at his residence in Defuniak Springs, Florida.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, December 9, 2022, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the services. Rev. Frankie McVay will officiate. Interment will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Barnes, Johnny Batson, Brandon Dreading, Brian Rahoi and Zac Bridges.

He was the loving father of David (Melanie) Dreading, Ricky (Jaunice) Dreading, Vivian DiGrazia, Douglas Mobley, Timothy (Julie) Donaldson, Gary Jr. (Kari) Dreading; survived by a sister, Joyce Crowell and brother, Billy Ray Hamby, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lum and Nellie Dreading, his loving wife of Myrtie Olene Dreading.

One of the kindest souls on this planet; he was a gentle, giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage. Early in his life, he learned the importance of hard work and he instilled that same work ethic in his children. His family says he was always there for them whether they needed help with their homework or just a shoulder to cry on. He was a man of strong faith, and he taught the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. He was a true role model who will always be looked up to by those who loved him. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Vitro/Bae Systems. He is now at peace but will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
