Flay Worley Powell Obituary

Flay Worley Stephens Kimbril Powell, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, at the young age of 83. Born on September 4, 1942, in Andalusia, AL, in the family home, she lived a life filled with kindness, laughter, and unwavering love for her faith and family. She was known for her Christian values, sense of humor, teaching, joking, and showing her kids and grandkids the value of living life. Visiting ten countries and twenty-nine states. Spending 30 years with Southern Bell after playing hooky from school to fill out her first job application.

She is survived by her brother Harold (Louise) Worley, her children, Gregory (Kathy) Stephens, Lisa (Thomas) Wos, Andy (Tanya) Stephens, seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, her most favorite nephew Keith Bowen, and preceded in death by a whole host of family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched.

She will be remembered for her relationship with her great-grandson, Harland Friou—her singing “Ragin’ Cajun”—a bond that was truly special. Filled with laughter, warmth, and a unique connection. Every moment together was cherished.

A graveside ceremony will be held on July 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Hill Assembly of God, 7100 Glen Chambers Rd., Florala, AL, where friends and family are invited to share memories and honor her remarkable journey.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Five Runs Cemetery (All-In Credit Union or 226 Chinkapin Dr., Dothan, AL 36301).
