Farrell Graham Cobb

Farrell Graham Cobb, 90, formerly of Marfa, TX, went to be with his Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ at 7:37 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester, where he has resided since 2017.

Born on August 30, 1934, in Brooklyn, Alabama, he was the 6th child of the late Frank and Vera (Thomas) Cobb. Growing up in Andalusia, Alabama, he completed his schooling and began working for the International Paper Company. On October 10, 1953, he married Ouida Faye Crawford in Niagara Falls, NY, where they lived until he was inducted into the U.S. Army on January 22, 1957. Serving at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas, he earned a GED and was honorably discharged on January 21, 1959. 

Following his military service, Farrell entered retail management and adopted their first child, Lisa, and had their first birth child Joan in 1961-1962. In 1971, they moved to Marfa, TX, where he managed the local general store, Winn’s, while concurrently owning and operating a record and music store known as C & B Records. After over 30 years of dedicated service to Winn’s, the couple retired to San Angelo, TX, in 2007. In 2015, they moved to Interlaken, NY, living with their grandson in a beloved farmhouse, and finally, in 2017, to North Manchester, Indiana.

A hard worker, Farrell was excellent at customer service at the store and floral arranging. As the son of a farmer, he had a natural ability to grow anything, he often nursed sick abandoned plants back to life.  Enjoying music, he played the piano by ear, playing gospel music. Providing for his family, he made sure that his daughters had the opportunity to attend summer camp annually to broaden their horizons. He ensured they were able to attend the college of their choice. Farrell never said no to an outing when invited, especially if it involved vanilla ice cream. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marfa, the Scottsdale Baptist Church in El Paso, TX, and, more recently, attended services at Peabody in North Manchester. 

Surviving are his daughters, Lisa (Jeffery) O’Dell of Columbia City and Joan Cobb of Midland, TX; grandchildren, Eric (Evangelee) Garcia of Midland, TX, Ronnie (Melissa) Garcia of Mesa, AZ, Anthony Cobb of San Angelo, TX, Jared O’Dell of Watkins Glen, NY, Samantha (Joseph) DiNardo, and Latorsha Sample, all of Virginia Beach, VA; great-grandchildren, Calvin, Aubrianna, Jaleen, Amri, Kiyra and E.J. Garcia, Kaleb Cobb, Ryder Kerr and John Paul, Benedict, and Hope Marie DiNardo.  Farrell was the last surviving of ten siblings. His wife, Ouida, died on January 26, 2024.

Following a private family visitation, Farrell will be transported to Keahey Funeral Home in Andalusia, AL. A funeral service and burial beside his wife are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 4th at the New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, 239 New Providence Church Lane, Evergreen, Alabama. A public memorial gathering will be held at the home of Lisa and Dr. Jeffrey O’Dell, 317 N Chauncey St, Columbia City, IN, on Sunday (June 1st) from 3 to 5 p.m.  Local arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
