Mrs. Edwyna Lane Fletcher Ivey of Andalusia, Alabama passed away October 13, 2022 at the age of 93 in Destin, Florida.  She is survived by her son Winston, daughter-in-law Mary Jo, of Destin, Florida, granddaughter Diana Fletcher of Birmingham, and granddaughter Jena Weekley, husband Branden Weekley, of Destin, Florida, one brother Frank D. Lane of Jacksonville, Florida, and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Ivey was preceded in death by her first husband, Leland W. Fletcher, and second husband R.E. Ivey, a son Woodrow (Woodie) Lee Fletcher, grandson Joseph Leland Fletcher, parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lane, sisters Evon Williams and Jean Frazer, sister-in-law Mrs. Frank (Rosemary) Lane, and brother-in-law Freddie Williams.

She was Executive Secretary at Alabama Electric Cooperative for 43 years. 

She was a graduate of Evergreen High School and Lurleen B. Wallace Jr. College.

She had an active role in many local activities. She was a member of the Andalusia Pilot Club where she received “Pilot of the Year Award”, the Andalusia Secretaries Association and was the recipient of the “Secretary of the Year” award.

Prior to her retirement, she served as a member of the Andalusia Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Toast Master’s Club of Andalusia, Covington Compassionate Friends, on the Board of Directors of the Covington County Cancer Association, and the Women’s Advisory Committee of the Covington County Bank.

In 1988, Lurleen B. Wallace Jr. College bestowed an Honorary Degree upon Mrs. Ivey in recognition of her services to the college and community, and for a perpetual scholarship she had established in memory of her son Woodie. She served as a member of the Vocational Advisory Council and the Secretarial Science Advisory Council at the college.

As a member of the Andalusia Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 14, she held various offices, including Worthy Matron. During her term as Worthy Matron, she was appointed as a Page to Grand Adah at the Grand Chapter in Montgomery.

Since her retirement some of her activities included serving as a volunteer at Andalusia Health where she was recognized in May 2015 as the Volunteer with the most hours served during the year.

Mrs. Ivey was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, a member of the Galaleen Sunday School class, and had been a member of the Glory Singers. She assisted with the children’s choir, Sunday school and Training Union.  She was presented a plaque designating her as “Most Outstanding Senior Adult Woman of the Year for 2003”.  She was one of the honorees at the First Baptist Church for having been a member for over 50 years. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Andalusia. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Andalusia one hour prior to the services.  Dr. Kevin Wilburn will officiate. Interment will follow in Stone Lake Gardens Cemetery. Keahey Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
