Edith Lois Castleberry, age 88, of the Carolina Community, passed away March 14, 2026, at her residence. She was born November 30, 1937, to Lonnie Chavers and Bernice Bryars.
Mrs. Castleberry worked as a secretary with Shorewood Packing during her working years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, working in her yard, and making flower arrangements for fun. She also loved shopping and cherished time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Pete Blackwell (Teresa), and daughter, Sue Williams, both of the Carolina Community; brothers, Leon Chavers (Lois) of Atmore, Alabama, Curtis Chavers (Geneva) of Davisville, Florida, and Ray Chavers of Davisville, Florida; sister, Voncile Chavers of Perdido, Alabama; grandchildren, Lamar Sutton (Maggie), Amanda Thomas (Michael), Austin Sutton (Tori), Krystal Collins (Jeff), and Paul Blackwell (Trista); along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Castleberry; her parents, Lonnie Chavers and Bernice Bryars; one great grandson, Andrew Byrd; one great granddaughter, Maggie Blackwell; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2026, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at Keahey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Stone Lake Gardens Cemetery.
