Dorenda Ellen Dewrell Rhodes of Navarre, Florida passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, December 8, 2025. She was 71 years old. Dorenda was born June 26, 1954 in Andalusia, Alabama to the late Lena Ellen Paul and James Howard Dewrell, Sr. She was the oldest of four siblings.
Over the years Dorenda made her home in several places including Arkansas and England. In 1983 she moved to Gulf Breeze, Florida. She loved living on the water and being so close to nature. She spent much of her time outdoors watching birds, bears and the abundant wildlife she was surrounded by. She remained a resident of Santa Rosa County for over forty years.

Dorenda is survived by her daughter Vanessa (Thomas) Johnson of Panama City Beach, one granddaughter, Leianna Ballard of Panama City Beach and one grandson, Casson Ballard stationed on the USS Gettysburg; one brother, James Howard (Margaret) Dewrell Jr; two sisters, Donna Kim Dewrell and Daphne (James Michael) Hardage; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A private graveside service will be officiated by Rev. Derwood Cleland at Stone Lake Garden Cemetery.
Yet I am always with you, you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.
