It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald "Donnie" Hitson, a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on December 22, 2024.
Born on April 11, 1954, Donnie lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and unwavering love for his family. Donnie was known for his strong work ethic, pouring his heart and soul into every task he undertook. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was watching deer from his window or feeding the fish in his pond. An avid outdoorsman, Donnie loved hunting and fishing, often exploring the river, creeks, and pond that held a special place in his heart. He embraced every moment spent riding backroads, frequently accompanied by his "heart friends," creating countless memories and seeking new adventures. Donnie's family was an important part of his life. He shared a steadfast bond with his wife, Mary Ann Hitson, and together they built a family that includes their children: Jarrod (Stephanie) Hitson, Jessica (Mickey) Jones, Marc (Renee) Browder, Sandy (Justin) McCullough, and Brandy Hitson. He was also a cherished brother to Ruth Edson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lela and Joe Beasley and Lee Hitson, along with his son Joseph Hitson and siblings Ronald Hitson, Valera Hitson, and Senda Cassidy. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Mason Browder, Ashley (Aaron) Kimberly, Kaegun Jones, Lexie Jones, Daria Weaver, Canyon Hitson, Willow Hitson, Cora McCullough, and Jonah McCullough, along with his great-grandson, River Kimberly. Donnie held the title of PawPaw/Papa close to his heart, and that special bond will be forever cherished. Donnie's beloved dog, Maggie Hitson, was always by his side, bringing him joy and companionship. Donnie's kindness, wit, and warm spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever. A celebration of Donnie's life will be later announced.
