Mr. David Maddox of Andalusia passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Mizell Memorial. He was 56.
Private services are being handled by Keahey Funeral Home.
Left to cherish his memory, loving mother, Naomi Watson of Andalusia; son, Braydon Walker of Andalusia; sisters, Lawana Watson of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Christina Watson and Laura Watson, both of Andalusia; brothers, Timothy Maddox and Keith Maddox (Sandra), all of Andalusia and Lavonne Watson (Barbara) of Babbie; several nieces and nephews.
Those who loved David asked that these special memories be shared. David loved to ride his motorcycle, during Hurricane Opal, David being determined to work, drove his motorcycle to his workplace, Hardees; after being informed that he did not have to work during a Hurricane; he returned home and several family members and friends gathered at David’s home. David always kept an immaculate home; everyone gathered around the kitchen table and listened to WAAO with a battery-operated radio; they stayed up all night monitoring the storm.
For a long time, David did not have a landline phone, but once he did, there was never a dull moment talking to David; he loved to talk with others on the phone and “shoot the bull”!
David was a skilled appliance repairman and was even nicknamed “Maytag”. His most recent job was with Vinny’s Convenience Store; a job that he really loved. To his closest friends, he was an encourager, many times even being so kind-hearted he would help others financially when he might have needed the money himself. David loved to lay on his couch and watch television.
David had shared with those closest to him that he had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Someone asked David why he did not attend church, he said he felt people looked down on him because he could not read. He greatly loved his son, Brayden, and did everything possible for him. David was a special person, unique in many ways, and will be dearly missed by those who loved him.
