Left to cherish his memory, his loving wife, LaFonda Cook; children, Larecia Scruggs (Rodney) of Georgiana; Chris Cook (Shannon) of Dothan; Amber Warlick of Red Level; Jeremy Cook (Tina) of Westville, Florida; Hanna Killingsworth (Danny) of Brantley; Britta Lambert (Marc) of Andalusia; brother, John Cook (Molly) of Vermont; sisters, Cheryl Patterson (Wayne) of South Carolina; Donna Keller (Bob) of Crestview, FL; Sally Duncan (Keith) of Gantt; Dottie McEwen of Panama City, Florida; Angel Cook of Hartselle, AL; grandchildren, Josh, Taylor, Jenna, Caleb, Lailah, Connor, Dinah, Gage, Ellie, Hope, Isabella, John David, Andalynn, Katherine, Christian, Annabelle, Braxton, Fenix, Baylor, Eli; great-grandchildren, Alayah, Walker, Levi, Emmie, Keegan; numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends.

David was born February 7, 1960, to John Henry Cook and Dorothy Racille Pitts Cook. He graduated from Red Level High School in 1978. He worked with the State of Alabama Department of Transportation as a maintenance technician and was planning his retirement to join his wife, who had just recently retired from the State of Alabama. The couple was excited about entering the retirement time of life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and the family says there was no more enthusiastic Alabama football fan than David. In the couple’s free time, wherever a grandchild was playing ball was where David and LaFonda were - it might have been Dothan, Brantley, Straughn, Andalusia, Red Level, or further away! His “happy place” was where any of his children or grandchildren were! At Easter, he was always the one to boil eggs and do the “old fashioned” coloring with vinegar and food coloring; he loved seeing his grandchildren excited about hunting the Easter eggs.

His faith was very important to him. While attending Pigeon Creek Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon. After joining the Family Life Ministry of Georgiana, he again served God by being a dedicated Deacon, assisting with the church sound system or anything else that might have been needed. David’s passing has left a great void in many lives; however, his life has also left many beautiful memories to cherish for everyone who
