Daniel Uvonne Carroll of Leonia, passed away April 27, 2019, at home after an extended battle with cancer.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, a minister of the gospel, a veteran of the Vietnam war and loved camping with the grandkids, his siblings and extended family. Times at Lake Talquin and the Smokey Mountains were his favorite. He drove forFleming Foods for years and made a bond with the drivers there, later he owned and operated his own semi leased to FTI until he had to retire for health issues. For the past several years, he enjoyed doing what he loved best, being a pastor at Glendale Baptist Church in the Glendale community.
Preceded in death by his parents Hollie and Beatrice Bolton Carroll, step-mother Anna McCormick Carroll, brother Wendell Wayne Carroll, Sr.; Father-in-law Theodore Rushing, Sr; mother-in-law Agnes Rushing, sister in law, Anita Wells Carroll Gatwood: brother in laws Hubert Thompson and Theodore Rushing, Jr. and Nephew David "BOBO" Thompson
Survivors are his wife of 49 years Janie Rushing Carroll, sons Brad Carroll (Loretta) and Chad Carroll (Jessica)and grandchildren Amber Turner, Landry Carroll and ChadDaniel Carroll 11. Great grandchildren Emaleigh, Hadley and Cashtyn Turner, two brothers Don {Sonya) Carroll of Freeport and Hubert (Kathy) Carroll of Leonia. Two sisters, Marcelle Thompson of Milton and Margie (Freddie Wayne, Sr.) McCall of Century, brother in law Douglass Gatwood, Brewton, AL; sister in law Gina (Rob) Devin of Chipley nieces: Charlotte, Maida, Rita, Gloria, Julia, Tammy, and Sonja; nephews: Wayne, Freddie Jr., Steve, Chris, Brandon,Shawn, Rhett and Joe and his church family at Glendale Baptist.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 29, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Leonia Baptist Church with the reverend Wilbur Williams, Paul Davis and Rodd Jones officiating. Keahey Funeral Home of Florala Al. is in charge of arrangements.
