Carol Couch Obituary

Carol Couch, age 91, went to be with the Lord whom she loved and served, on May 7, 2023.  She passed away in a local nursing facility.

Her “Homegoing Celebration” will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 12, at West Highland Assembly of God on River Falls Street in Andalusia. Rev. David L. Hicks will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour before the service.  Interment will follow in Stone Lake Gardens.

Keahey Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

The daughter of Reverend C.M. and Bernice Hicks, Carol was born on February 21, 1932 in Venice, Illinois.  She graduated from Central High School in Chattanooga, TN in 1949.  She then attended Southeastern Bible College in Lakeland, FL to study music.  There she met her husband, Bob Couch. They were married August 9, 1953.

Bob Couch, an ordained minister of the Assemblies of God, and Carol pastored churches in South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas and Missouri.  The two of them ministered together for over 50 years.

During their ministry, Carol served with her talented musical gift, playing the piano and organ.  Music was her lifelong ministry.  At age 10, she began playing the piano for worship services at churches where her father pastored. As a pastor’s wife, she directed choirs, taught Sunday School, and prepared meals for missionaries and evangelists.

She is survived by her three children, Jan (Greg) White, David (Claudia) Couch, and Judy (John) Padgett; four grandchildren, Kelley Nolen (Chase), Andrew Couch (Laureyn), Steven Padgett (Michelle), and Jonathan Padgett; and two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Emily; her brother, Rev. David Hicks (Joan) and six nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, her parents, her sister, a brother and brother-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sav-A-Life of Covington County or the West Highland Assembly of God Church.  The family thanks Andalusia Manor and Brenda Ziglar for their caregiving.
