Brenda Joyce Kilpatrick Sharpe, 81, of Andalusia passed away on Saturday March 30th at the HCA West Florida Hospital in Pensacola.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Bethany Baptist Church (14632 Heath River Falls Road). The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Brady Sharpe, Garrett Simpler, Kevin Rodgers, Matt Smith, Scott Riley and Donnie Cook.
Child of the late Leroy Kilpatrick and Willie Myrtle Summerlin she was one of 6 children. Joyce was born on March 31, 1942, and raised in Covington County. In 1960, she graduated Andalusia High School as salutatorian of her class and married a few years later to Mickey Lemonn Sharpe, Sr. on December 6, 1963. In December 2023, the couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Mickey Lemonn Sharpe, Sr.; children Mickey L. Sharpe, Jr. (Tracy McClain), and Ellie Jane Sharpe; grandchildren Nicholas Brady Sharpe (Kenna Edmondson), Rabren Nicole Sharpe, Thomas Corbett Kaniff (Michelle Garcia) of Atlanta, Caroline Rose Kaniff of Sacramento, CA, and Garrett Jackson Simpler; and 1 great-grandchild Scarlett Blaire Sharpe; brother, James D. Massey of Prattville. She was preceded in death by siblings, Vonceil B. Sasser, Merle Griffin, Ray S. Massey, and Robert Waylon Bryant.
