She began her career at Howard’s VA Hospital in Maryland during the Vietnam era and continued to pursue her nursing career by obtaining her Registered Nursing Degree. During her remaining 17 years, she worked as Head Nurse in the Psychiatric Unit at Laverne Hospital in Crenshaw, Alabama, until the age of 74. She loved her work, helping people and sharing the love of God with all she served.
Our dear mother always thought of others, was a giver to all, and always saw the good in everybody. She was someone to emulate in her actions and deeds, showing love and kindness to everyone she came into contact with. She found enjoyment in her family, spending time with loved ones, singing, and worshipping her Savior Jesus Christ. After her retirement, she enjoyed giving her homemade baked bread to family and friends.

We love you dearly, sweet Mother of ours. You are loved and greatly missed already. Mom, Granny, Great Granny, Great Great Granny, Old Neene — your work on earth is done. Rest in peace and cheer us on. We look forward to that day when we shall meet again, and oh what a day that will be.
