Mr. Aric Daniel Cumbie of Andalusia passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 18, 2020, at Scripture Truth Baptist Church (Cantaline Bridge Road, Andalusia). The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2020, at Scripture Truth Baptist Church. Brother Carol Parker and Brother Steve Cumbie will officiate. The eulogy will be given by a friend, Virgil Adams. Interment will follow in Scripture Truth Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. Keahey Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Virgil Adams, Larry Nichols, Zachary Churlick, Richard Rakow, Josh Lunsford, Chad Gatlin, Tommy Hutto, and Ben Stinson. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeffrey Rolling, Ed Gore, Adam Davis, Kevin Lunsford, Derek Farmer, and Patrick Farmer.
Aric was a 1996 graduate of Opp High School and then he earned a technical degree in electrical engineering. He worked on powerlines all his adult life and was currently with Lee Electrical Contracting, Inc. He had been in the Army National Guard for 26 years; in 2005 he was deployed to Iraq during the Iraq War. He loved being outdoors and especially fishing and hunting. He did small track farming and was a master at vegetable gardening and was known for his delicious pepper jelly, swamp cabbage, and cream corn. In his leisure, he enjoyed having farm animals and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Aric was also a gifted writer of poetry.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tonya Meredith Cumbie of Andalusia; daughters, Ansley Cumbie of Andalusia and Hope Barclay of Ohatchee, AL; sons, Tyler Brandon Macer Cumbie of Andalusia; Austin Meredith of Andalusia; parents, Charles Walter Cumbie and Ida Trammell Cumbie of Opp; sister, Ashley Cumbie Davidson (Courtney) of Troy; father-in-law, James Meredith (Glenda) of Andalusia; mother-in-law, Twainnia Baker (Joe) of Andalusia. He was preceded in death by a brother, Steven "Brad" Cumbie; paternal grandparents, Walter Washington Cumbie and Talmer Turner Cumbie; maternal grandparents, Leon Park Trammell, and Naomi Kirkland Trammell; several uncles and cousins.
