Sara Lee McLaney McLendon , age 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 9, 2017 ending her fight with pancreatic cancer. She was born April 5, 1933 in Louisville, Alabama and lived in Louisville until her recent illness. She was a resident of Extendicare Long Term Care Center in Dothan, Alabama at the time of her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Oyed C. McLendon, her parents: L. C. McLaney and Mattie L. Mims McLaney, brothers: Jim McLaney, Jack McLaney, Woodrow McLaney, Douglas McLaney and sister: Grace McLaney Green.

She was truly loved and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughters: Judy McLendon ( David) Vinson and Jonie McLendon (Jason) Nixon; four grandchildren: David “Allen” (Shannon) Vinson II, Angela Vinson (Justin) Matheny, Presley Jase Nixon and Madison Marie Nixon; four great- grandchildren: David Allen (Tripp) Vinson III, Farrar Mae Vinson, Dominic Michael Matheny and Arabella Michaela Matheny; six siblings: Jennie Pittman, Curry McLaney, Johnny (Gwen) McLaney, Pete (Annette) McLaney, Janice (Jimmy) Davis, Ann (Carl) Tenille and sister in law: Yan McLaney as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ms. McLendon was a graduate of Clayton High School and married Oyed C. McLendon on July 4, 1953. She worked as a seamstress at Fruit of the Loom for many years before retiring to be a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing for her children and grandchildren as well as gardening and cooking. She also enjoyed fishing, spending time with family, swimming and going to the beach.

She was an active member of Louisville Baptist Church where she enjoyed her Sunday School class and spent many years serving in the church nursery, as well as helping host numerous bridal showers.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Louisville Baptist Church Louisville, Alabama with funeral services following at 3 p.m. Interment will be at the Louisville Cemetery immediately following services. Keahey Funeral Home of Clio will be directing. Paston Nathan Ziglar will be officiating. Serving as pall bearers: David Vinson , Jason Nixon, Allen Vinson, Justin Matheny, Max Brooks and Darrell McLaney.
