Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Springhill Baptist Church; 3146 Country Road 53, Clio, Alabama 36017.  Rev. Randy Adams and Rev. Kenneth Hagler will officiate.  Burial will follow in Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home of Clio directing.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made for Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive fiends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Keahey Funeral Home; 1411 Blue Springs Street, Clio, Alabama 36017.

Mrs. Eiland is survived by her sisters, Miriam Quenette Shehane and Marilyn Joanna Wilkinson (DeLane); children, Carlos Milton Eiland (Bonnie), Amoret Eiland Price, and Stuart Wilkinson Eiland (Sandi); grandchildren, Cody Watson Eiland (Ali Grace), Carla McCall Eiland, Cara Elizabeth Eiland, Bridget Price Chapelle (David), Suzanne Price Hunter (James), Carmen Lindsey Eiland, and Sydney Sloan Eiland; and greatgrandchild, Curtis Hayes Eiland.

Mrs. Eiland attended Blue Springs High School and graduated Valedictorian in 1944 during World War II.  After high school, she attended Troy State Teachers College in Troy, Alabama where she was a member of the Troy State Teachers College Choir.  Because of the lack of teachers during World War II, Peggy was given the opportunity, after only two years of college, to teach second grade in Florala, Alabama.

After teaching in Florala for two years, Peggy returned home to Blue Springs where she met the love of her life, Curtis Milton Eiland in 1948 who had taken a position as the Vocational Agriculture Teacher at Blue Springs High School.  A few short months later on Easter Sunday, April 17th 1949, they were married at the home of her parents.

The following two years, Mr. Eiland taught veterans of World War II in Crenshaw County and they lived in Luverne, Alabama.  In 1951, Mr. Eiland returned to Blue Springs, where he taught for the next 15 years.  During that time, Mr. and Mrs. Eiland welcomed their three children: Carlos (1952), Amoret (1955), and Stuart (1957).  Mr. Eiland loved his job and all the students he taught, while Peggy was content to be the housewife and mother.  While in Blue Springs, Peggy became involved with many activities including PTO President and County President of the Home Demonstration Club.  She also supported her husband, helping with FFA projects and substitute teaching.

In 1965, Curtis and Peggy made the move to Barbour County High School in Clio, Alabama.  Peggy took turns as a teacher’s aide, school secretary, and lunchroom supervisor.  As time moved on, she became the Barbour County Child Nutritionalist, a position from which she retired in 1991.

After retiring, Curtis and Peggy spent their time between their home in Blue Springs and the house they own on Lake Eufaula.  Mrs. Eiland is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Milton Eiland; parents, Cody and Alma Scarborough Wilkinson; sister, Carolyn Wilkinson Helms; brothers-in-law, Travis Helms and James Edward Shehane; and son-in-law, Joseph H. Price, Jr.
