Gunnery Sergeant Mickey W. Schofield, USMC Retired, of Greenville passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at his residence. He was 64.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, September 16, 2019 at the Southside Baptist Church in Greenville. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services. Rev. Hebert Brown will officiate. Interment will follow with full military honors in the Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery in Greenville. U.S. Marines honor team will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Wayne Edgar, Jeff Holder, Jaron Schofield, Joshua Schofield, Gage Smith and Dustin Snell. Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions maybe made to the charity of one’s choice.
Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Annie Claire Schofield of Greenville; brothers, Greg (Lanell) Schofield of Huntsville; Joey (Tina) Schofield of Greenville; sisters, Renee Holder of Greenville; Joyce (Russ) Smith of Georgiana; grandchildren, Dylan Schofield, Shelby Schofield, both of Prattville; numerous nieces and nephews that loved him very much!
He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Schofield in 2001 and his son, Dale Schofield in 2007. Mr. Schofield graduated from Greenville High School. A U. S. Marines, he served in the combat phase of the Gulf War-Operation Desert Storm and retired as a Gunnery Sergeant.
