Mr. Melvin Smith of Skipperville passed away on December 31, 2019, at his residence. He was 74.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 2, 2019, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel in Clio. The family will receive friends at Keahey Chapel in Clio one hour prior to services. Rev. Bobby Peters will officiate and special music by Leamon Littlefield.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Gayle Phillips Smith; children, Vicki (Howard) Brinkman, Ronnie Smith Frankie (Robin) McLaney of Ozark and Debbie Thomley of Ozark; siblings, Billy Smith of Skipperville, Larry (Ella) Smith of Phenix City; Jerry Smith of Phenix City; Shirley (Kenny) Boatwright of Ozark; Ann Heath of Memphis, TN; and Debbie German of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Michael Brinkman, Kendall Brinkman, Joshua McLaney and Dalton Thomley; great-grandchildren, Jade Brinkman, Lexi Brinkman, Kylee Brinkman, Caleb Johnson, and Chase Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry Smith, Sr. and Myrtis Smith, and brothers, Perry Smith, Jr., and Johnny Smith.
The family attended Harvest Freewill Baptist Church. He loved anything that involved being outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a commercial truck driver prior to retiring.
