Red, yellow, black and white all are precious in his sight - all are us. Her "twisted feet" (photo available) allowed "Speaky" or as her children know her "Memau" to share the gospel and her love with so many. She is loved and missed dearly by her family.
"Speaky" is currently with the love of her life, her late husband (62 years), Raymond Donald Hicks of Straughn, AL., who passed in 2009. "Speaky's" parents also preceded her in death, George Hixon (father) and Laura Bozeman Hixon (mother). "Speaky" was the life of the Hicks family for her famous "cackling" laughter, acceptance, and love for people. At a foreign airport when left waiting alone, Dad once said, "don't worry about "Speaky", she can make friends with a rock (in any language) in 5 minutes." Speaky's language was LOVE! She led a Christian life by example and judged no one; as she had enough love and acceptance for us all.
Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Donald Ray - Aktulgali Hicks (Onur Hicks Aktulgali) of Los Angeles, CA., and (daughter) Cynthia Elizabeth Rider Cross (Tony Cross) of Andalusia; six grandchildren, Gray Rider (Jennifer Rider), Micah Rider, Lane Rider (Catherine Estes Riders), Caitlin Rider (Kashif Rider), Luke Rider (Olivia Rider), and Noah Rider; and four great-grandchildren, Emily, Rachael, Justin, and Aubry.
"Memau/Speaky" asked that those who wish to donate in her name, do so to either to the Wycliffe Bible Society, The Salvation Army, or The Breast Cancer Foundation.
