Huey Glenn Hammonds

Mr. Huey “Hubert” Glenn Hammonds, of Elba, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the Elba nursing facility. He was 80.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 19, 2019, at River Falls Baptist Church. Rev. Ed Ganus will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service (10:00 A.M.) at the church. Burial will follow in Fairmount Baptist Church Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home of Andalusia directing. Asked to serve as pallbearers: David Hammonds, Patrick Allen, Andy Philyaw, Robert Philyaw, Joe Travis, and Michael Patterson.

Mr. Hammonds is survived by, his two step-sons; his grandchildren, Dana Hammonds (Holt FL), David Hammonds (Bagdad FL), Andy Philyaw (Brewton AL), Danny Philyaw (Philadelphia), Steve Funderburk (Virginia Beach), Jonathan Philyaw (Japan), Lindsey Philyaw (FL), Tiffany Smith (Dothan AL), Jerry Philyaw Jr (TN), Derrick Philyaw (Alabaster AL), Rebecca Martin (Century AL).; one brother, Dennis Hammonds of Holt, FL.; along with a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife (24 years), Stella Odom Hammonds; three step-children, his parents, Felix and Pearl (Frost) Hammonds; two sisters, Maggie Yancy, and Maude Thompson; and three brothers, Bail Hammonds, John Wesley Hammonds, and Felix Hammonds JR.
