Mr. Dan Trammel Merrill, age 88, of Florala passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 after an extended illness. He was one of seven children born on September 18, 1928 to Trammel and Idell Merrill. He was preceded in death by his father: Trammel Merrill, mother:  Idell Merrill, brothers: Gene, Joe, and Virgil Merrill; sisters: Tilly Baumgartner and Betty Tunnage; and three great granddaughters: Hayden, Riley, and Kara daughters of David and Erica Hartzog.

He is survived by his wife  of 60 years, Anna Ward Merrill of Florala; Sister: Dot Thompson of Pensacola, Florida; daughters: Felicia(Bob) Maycan  of Greer, South Carolina, Mary (Roy)Rhodes of Youngsville, North Carolina, Myra ( Brian) Shealy of Tampa, Florida,  and Mandy (Kevin) Schoonhoven of Vallejo, California ; sons: Ward (Sissie)Merrill of Dothan, Alabama, Dempsey Merrill ( Sandi) of Abbeville, Alabama; 29 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. He loved his family and his church. His passion in life was singing gospel music and was part of the South Alabama Convention singers for many years. He also enjoyed taking care of his cows.

Funeral services for Mr. Dan Merrill will be Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 10 am with interment to follow in the Smyrna Cemetery in Florala, Alabama. The family will receive friends Friday, July 7, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Keahey Funeral Home of Lockhart- Florala.
